Howdy there pardners! It’s been nearly a month since we last updated you on progress, so here goes! We have had a few wrinkles to iron out over the last few weeks, not least the delay with the sensitivity readers and our graphics design expert taking a month off on holiday! The upshot is that we are now unlikely to hit our ambitious target of getting the PDF in the right place and out to you before christmas, as we had hoped. As you know, this is our first kickstarter and we fell into the rookie trap of being a little too bullish about how quickly, and how smoothly, everything would go. We are learning on the job! That said, if all goes according to plan over the next few weeks we expect the PDF to be ready in January, so only a short delay—we hope you forgive us our novice enthusiasm and bear with us for the extra few weeks it will take. But everything else is good news! The text is in the very final stages of editing and all our guest writers have delivered their excellent contributions. This will all be finished this week or next. Our maps have been produced and are going through the final stages of quality control, dotting the ‘I’s and crossing the ‘T’s, and will also be finished by next week. Our posse of five artists are been driven like a herd through the snow, and are delivering beautiful and stunning artwork at breakneck pace. We will have finished our baseline commissions by the end of the month, when we will review and commission any final pieces that are missing, or that we decide need creating additionally. Oh, and the dice are on their way! With all that in hand we are finalising the schedule for printing, delivery, and distribution, and as soon as we have nailed down the plans for those we will be able to confirm when the pledge manager will run. The date’s to be confirmed, but expect it early in 2025. So, all in all, we are very pleased with how things are progressing, and still expect to be delivering the hard copy products to you by our target of May 25. We will keep you informed how we are doing, and will let you know if anything crops up that might threaten that target. But right now, we think we are looking good. Thanks again to you all for your support, and here’s to riding the plains in 2025! Dave & Matthew |
Our prototype dice have finally arrived Another month, another newsletter. We thought it might be time for another update on progress, and it’s all good news. The most important news being that the presses are rolling (if presses still roll) on the printed version! We prepared print files and sent them to Standart a few weeks ago. There was a bit of back and forth on the files, as we adjusted bleeds, rasters, colours, print profiles and ink totals on the files to get them optimal for printing...
Thee image we are adapting for the dice trays As people (in the Northern Hemisphere) face the longest night of the year, and hunker down for midwinter and the festivals that follow, it’s time to tell you about our progress. Some, or most of you will already have received the update we sent via Kickstarter earlier so most of this will be old news to you. But subscribers to our mailing list are growing, so I assume at least some of you are not Kickstarter backers. But here is a new bit of news...
We thought it was time for an update on progress. An exciting thing happened at the beginning of the week - our bank account was credited with the funds from Kickstarter, minus their cut of course, and processing fees. In the spirit of openness, you might like to know how that breaks down. A Sheriff and a Lighthorseman are just two of the possibilities that the "Lawman" archetype presents You will remember that you pledged a total of £34,632.00. But sadly for nine backers, their credit card...
